Hunter House Hamburgers was established in 1952 and is the longest continually operating restaurant in Birmingham, Michigan. We feature high quality hamburgers with the sweet onions smashed into the burgers while still on the grill. The chefs at Birmingham’s famed Townsend Hotel like to refer to them as “gourmet sliders”. Our famous little white pill-box diner has no prejudice. You will find an old pickup parked next to a Mercedes Benz in our small, but packed, parking lot.From the hot and steamy buns to the smell and taste of grilled sweet onions, Hunter House consistently serves the best. “Just driving by and smelling the unmistakable aroma of the grilled onions can start you salivating, but that’s not enough. They must be eaten to really be appreciated,” says the Oakland Press.The much photographed vintage 50's white porcelain diner comes complete with 28 counter stools and a fun and friendly atmosphere, and has remained virtually unchanged since its inception. “The place is an institution,” notes Mayor Tom McDaniel. “Al Papazian holds a special place in the history of Birmingham. We are proud to have a business with that kind of stability and longevity.” Al and his wife, Martha (deceased 1996) worked side by side, day and night for over 25 years to ensure that each of their customers was served promptly and with a smile. “Our guests deserve the best in quality and service,” says Al. Today, his daughter, Susan Papazian Cobb, is committed to carrying on that tradition from her mother and father.Hunter House now offers catering services for your home, office or corporate party. Let us bring our kitchen to you! Our “Diner on Wheels” is an 8 1/2' x 30' mobile catering kitchen with a state of the art, Health Department approved stainless steel kitchen inside. The diner is a fully self-contained unit, equipped with generators and run by propane. We are able to cook rain or shine and can prepare and serve 250 hamburgers per hour. We provide everything, including all paper goods. Our diner is operated and staffed completely by our trained Hunter House associates who will treat all guests with the utmost respect and service with a smile.Hunter House Hamburgers’ main objective is to provide our customers with the freshest and highest quality food in our industry.
